Drs. Ann Chapleau and Jennifer Harrison led a peer-reviewed presentation and Tech Demo, Goal Scaling Solutions, a Mobile & Web-Based Outcome Measure for Educators, Clinicians, & Researchers: Supporting & Measuring Goal Attainment.

Take Away: Among the OTs in higher education, pediatrics, rehab, and older adult settings who attended, there is a need for individualized outcome measurement that can provide aggregated data. We are following up with those who expressed interest in adopting GSS and look forward to building these collaborative relationships.

January 2023:

Dr. Jennifer Harrison and Hannah Kenny, MSW presented research findings supporting GSS as a tool for health promotion http://dyuti.in/

Take away: Goal setting and goal achievement can be complex constructs in health promotion. Individualization and monitoring of goals are associated with goal achievement. In this oral session, GSS was presented as a flexible tool that can provide outreach to clients and communities regardless of public health restrictions.

November 2022:

Drs. Jennifer Harrison and Ann Chapleau, and Danielle Hughes, BSW, provided a research presentation and tech demo: Progress not perfection: Using technology to measure and drive outcomes in social work

Take away: Our clinical trials in higher education support GSS as a useful tool for evaluating individualized longitudinal change among graduate students and practitioners. Varied options for scaling goals for simplified outcome measurement were presented and GSS products such as goal libraries, online self-guided training, and consultation services for goal-writing and data analysis were discussed as tools to address prior barriers to adoption.

Drs. Ann Chapleau and Jennifer Harrison provided the oral research presentation: Using Goal Attainment Scaling during fieldwork: An interdisciplinary study

Take away: Our multi-year phenomenological study findings indicate that graduate students can be supported in achieving professional development and wellness goals during fieldwork using GSS. Themes of improved accountability, focus, motivation, and understanding of and creating effective goals for themselves and with clients have global applications for higher education and practice.
